In recent years, drones have advanced significantly and are now useful for a variety of activities. Drones can now be purchased at a wide range of price points, starting at a few hundred dollars and going up to several thousand dollars.
Not everyone is ready to shell out $1,000 for a top-notch drone. In particular, if you are unsure whether or not you will enjoy flying the drone and whether or not you will be able to successfully control it.
I also bought my first drone for under $50. Simply because I didn’t want to risk damaging a more expensive drone by crashing it into a tree. Even though the majority of drones available in today’s market are very simple to operate, I would advise you to get some practice with a cheaper model first. This will allow you to gain the experience and confidence necessary to fly with a more expensive drone and take photographs of really high quality.
In this buying guide, I will walk you through some of the best drones available for less than 50 dollars. If you have never flown a drone before, or if you are just looking for a drone to play around with and have some fun with, you should look into purchasing one of these awesome drones.
1. Eachine E58 (Editor’s Choice)
The Eachine E58 is a fantastic entry-level drone that can be purchased for fifty dollars. This was the very first drone I ever owned. Unfortunately, I decided to try a very risky stunt, and as a result, I crashed the drone into a wall.
Even though I wasn’t able to capture footage in 4K resolution, I still had a great time flying this drone.
The drone is incredibly easy to fly. It flies just as smoothly and flawlessly as a model that costs significantly more. Even when there was a bit of wind, I was able to fly the drone without any difficulty.
One of the primary factors that led to my decision to purchase this drone years ago was the fact that it looks pretty good. The design is awesome.
Regarding the camera, considering the low cost of the drone, the overall quality of the camera is quite impressive. It is sufficient for the purpose of exploring the area and getting a good picture of the surroundings; however, you should not expect it to have a high resolution or exceptional quality. This drone is not for you if your goal is to capture professional-quality footage or to make money off of your aerial photography.
The flight time is not that good, the battery can last for up to 9 minutes. Because this is not that much, I suggest that you purchase some additional batteries.
As long as you don’t crash the drone directly into a wall at full speed like I did, it should be able to survive a few mild crashes.
The drone has a surprising number of features that make flying easier.
- Because it is foldable, the drone takes up very little space and is easy to transport.
- The drone comes with a feature called altitude hold that makes it more stable in the air and enables you to fly it even when there is a bit of wind.
- The drone comes with headless mode, which makes flying easier.
- With the one-key return feature, you can quickly bring the drone back to its starting location in the event of an emergency.
- You can switch between different flight speeds.
- The drone can endure a few crashes
- The camera is good for the price
- Great design
- Easy and fun to fly
- Comes with many useful features
- Short flight time of maximum 9 minutes
Super cool looking drone that is extremely fun to fly. A Perfect choice for all beginners. It is very affordable and perfect for practicing flying.Check Price!
2. ZLL SG107
This drone has a lot of surprising features, but the camera quality is particularly impressive considering how affordable this beautiful drone is. It comes with two different cameras, and you can switch between them with the press of a button. The image quality comes close to matching that of the E58. Because you have access to two cameras, you are able to switch between two different perspectives, which can be quite helpful. Additionally, the image is clearer as a result of the camera’s Optical Flow Dual Positioning capabilities.
The drone is extremely well made, and it doesn’t look like it would only cost $50. This fantastic model is also made of plastic, but it is extremely durable.
The drone comes with propeller protectors, which prevents you from having to buy new propellers every time you hit something. In addition, the presence of propeller protectors makes it less dangerous for young children to operate the drone.
The drone is simple to pilot and has excellent stability while flying, with the exception of when it is exposed to strong winds.
- Switchable Optical Flow Dual cameras allow you to capture the image from 2 different perspectives.
- It comes with propeller protectors for safer operation.
- The drone can withstand some collisions.
- Excellent stability in the air and a great flying experience.
- A good flight time of up to 15 minutes.
- Easy to operate
- Great design
- High quality product
- Good price
- 2 switchable cameras
- Decent flight time
- Unstable in stronger winds
A beginner drone of high quality, packed with some cool features, that is a lot of fun, and can withstand a lot.Check Price!
3. S60 Mini Drone
When compared to the Eachine E58, the S60 Mini drone is a bit cheaper. The drone looks much pricier than it actually is.
If there is no wind, the S60 has the potential to achieve a flight time of up to 15 minutes. It will remain in the air for about ten minutes if there is a moderate amount of wind. The flight time is above average for the price class.
You also have the ability to increase the flying speed of the drone, which enables you to fly it even when there is a greater amount of wind.
Due to the fact that it is made of plastic, the S60 Mini drone is not necessarily durable. There are, however, propeller protectors that can be installed so that the blades of the propellers are not damaged in the event of a collision.
The quality of the images is marginally lower than the quality of the images produced by the E58, but the difference is only small. However, considering the fact that it is more affordable, the camera quality is okay.
- You can switch between different flight speeds.
- The drone comes with propeller protection.
- Up to 15 minutes of flight time.
- The drone is small, foldable and easy to carry.
- The drone comes with headless mode to make it easier for you to fly.
- Easy to carry
- Looks expensive, although it is cheap
- 15 minutes flight time
- Great price
- Easy to fly
- Camera quality is not the best
- Not that durable
An even cheaper alternative to the E58. It is good for beginners to learn to fly and has a pretty decent flight time.Check Price!
4. Eachine E38
When it comes to inexpensive but high-quality drones for beginners, Eachine is my absolute favorite drone manufacturer. The design of the E38 is very creative, and the glowing blue eyes give it a very cool appearance.
This model is perfect for you if you are looking for a beginner drone that is both affordable and comes with a lot of cool features.
The quality of the camera is better than average for the price range, with vibrant colors and a clear image. When I first used the drone a while ago, I was really surprised by the nice image quality.
I was also surprised by the number of impressive features packed into this cheap drone. The drone has useful functions built in, such as the altitude hold mode, headless mode, and one-key return function.
In light winds, the Eachine E38 quadcopter can achieve acceptable flight times of up to 13 minutes.
After having flown the drone twice, I can say that I am satisfied with it for the price, and I am able to recommend this quadcopter to others. The E38 is pretty cheap for its high level of quality.
- Altitude hold mode for more stability when flying.
- With the One-Key return feature: with just one press of a button, your drone will automatically fly back to you.
- With 3.7V 1100mAh battery: You can stay in the air for up to 13 minutes and have fun.
- The drone is strong and resilient despite being lightweight.
- The E38 is equipped with cool LED lights.
- The drone has propeller guards, which is always good.
- Decent flight time
- High durability
- Useful features
- Great camera for the price
- Propeller guards
- The drone is not foldable
Another good beginner quadcopter from Eachine with (for the price) good camera quality.Check Price!
5. FLYHAL E69
A beginner-friendly drone for a great price. The drone is incredibly nimble, possesses a significant amount of power, and is an enjoyable experience to fly.
Due to the rather average flight time of up to 10 minutes, it is strongly recommended that you purchase additional batteries. You have the option of purchasing the drone with two batteries directly. In addition, due to the short amount of time required for charging, maybe you won’t require a third one. This is because you will always be able to recharge the other battery while you are in the air.
The camera is okay, but not outstanding. However, sufficient for enjoyable flight.
Even with the battery, the drone is extremely lightweight, weighing just 100 grams in total. As a result, flying the drone in windy conditions is not recommended. The drone is not only very lightweight but also foldable, making it possible to carry it in your pocket and making it easy to transport.
Unfortunately, there are no propeller guards on the drone, so you need to be a little more careful. But in case you bump into something, it comes with two extra propellers.
- The drone is foldable and fits into your pocket.
- Stable flight is made possible by altitude hold mode.
- The 6 axis gyro makes it easy for you to control the drone nicely.
- Different, adjustable flight speeds are available in case you occasionally want to fly really fast or slowly.
- Your drone will always return to you when you want it to thanks to One-Key return.
- Foldable, lightweight
- Strong motor
- Cool design
- Good durability
- Replacement propellers included
- No propeller guards
This is a cool drone that is easy to control and has a lot of power and maneuverabilityCheck Price!
What can I expect from a $50 drone?
These smaller models are not the best choice if you want to record videos or take images that are very clear and of a high quality; these quadcopters are not designed for that.
So why would you buy such a cheap drone?
To put it simply, flying one of these aircraft is a lot of fun, and they are ideal for pilots just starting out. In addition, many of the models can also be used as toys for your younger children. If the weather is bad outside and you can’t fly your professional drone, you can fly these drones in your living room and annoy your partner. These drones are just as entertaining to fly as larger and more expensive models, but naturally, their performance is lower across the board, and they have fewer features and capabilities. Because you can get great deals on these drones, and many of them cost less than $50, you might as well get two or three of them just in case one of them breaks.
Those were my recommendations for good drones under $50. I hope you find a model that suits your needs.
